The #Focus5 project provides in-depth support to young people aged 15-18 across the Heart of the South West Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) area to move towards education, employment and training. Young people will work with a Key Worker to develop their own plan and can also access support from our Specialist Partners on the project.
#Focus5 looks at the 5 key employability skills identified by employers as being gateways to employment: communication; customer service; organisation; problem solving; team work.
Who can benefit?
We will support 490 individuals in Devon, Plymouth, Somerset and Torbay including those with mental health issues, special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), parents and care leavers to develop their personal and social skills. The project runs until December 2019.
How is it funded?
The project is part of the Building Better Opportunities (BBO) programme and is jointly funded by the European Social Fund (ESF) and the Big Lottery Fund.
As a result of our projects, we hope to create a lasting positive effect among young people, communities and the local economy. Raising the confidence, aspirations and skills of the participants, we aim to change attitudes, challenge perceptions and help young people to focus on what they can achieve.
